9-year-old Adem lives in modest conditions with his family. Every day he goes to the landfill near his home to collect paper and plastic from the garbage. These he sells to get a little money to help his family survive day to day. Ademi's days are full of challenges, but he also has dreams and hopes for a better future. The film follows Adem's everyday life, the challenges he faces and how he tries to keep his family afloat with the garbage he collects.

In 1992, a group of multicultural refugees are sitting tightly packed in the back seat of a minibus. They are plagued by cold, exhaustion and memories of their lost lives. A large cello case creates a dispute that at first seems like an ordinary dispute.

​Elokuvassa matkataan Farid al-Din 'Attarin "Lintujen kokous" -teoksen innoittamana lintuparven mukana, joka seuraa Hoopeeta ylittäen 7 laaksoa kohti Kafh-vuorta. Siellä asuu kuningas Simourgh, joka pystyy vastaamaan heidän jokaiseen kysymykseensä. Salaisuus paljastetaan vain kuudelle linnulle: Hoopoe; neljä lintua, jotka ovat kokeneet neljän ihmishahmon rakkauden, sekä kuudes, kaikista epätodennäköisin lintu.

​Elokuvassa tutkitaan Olof Palmen, Ruotsin pitkäaikaisen ja kiistellyn pääministerin, salamurhaa vuonna 1986, joka on jäänyt ratkaisemattomaksi mysteeriksi Ruotsille. Vuonna 2020 poliisi nimesi Stig Engströmin murhan tekijäksi. Elokuva kuvaa murhapäivän tapahtumia sekä kuinka murhaaja suunnitteli ja toteutti teon.
